Do you have the means to donate? Use this map to decide the best donation option for you.

Please keep in mind that Maui still
needs us. The money you donate will help the displaced families of Lāhainā & Kula to get back on their feet and rise from the ashes.

Whether you are from Hawai'i,
have visited our island home, or are just learning about this from the news, we humbly ask for your kāko'o.

The Help Maui Rise

ONE CLICK DONATION

Having a hard time deciding who to donate to? Need a tax-deductible 501(c)(3) receipt for your donation? Learn more about our One Click Donation collective hub.

As our original list grew, we realized that we wanted to offer a simplified donation option by removing the need for donors to choose which family to support. Additionally, we wanted to provide a donation option specifically for businesses that would be tax-deductible.

GoFundMe informed us about GoFundMe.org, their nonprofit branch, which agreed to act as our 501(c)(3) beneficiary (fiscal sponsor) and handle all grant distribution. This led to the creation of our One Click Donation collective hub. It serves as a single fund where donors can contribute to the entire list of qualified applicants with a single donation.

Moreover, we can distribute grants from our larger donors ($5k+) to the families with the lowest funding, ensuring a more equitable distribution of donations.

If you intend to make a larger contribution, please reach out to us beforehand so we can discuss offline donation options to reduce fees.

THE ORIGINAL

HELP MAUI RISE GOOGLE SHEET

Searching for a specific ‘ohana? Looking to donate to individual families? Learn more about the original Help Maui Rise list.

The Help Maui Rise Google sheet began as a simple document intended to be shared within our inner circles. Fast forward to today, it has evolved into a growing resource that houses the names of over 1,600 displaced families, their stories and direct ways to donate to them. Each entry is vetted by our team and reviewed by GoFundMe directly.

To search for a specific ‘ohana, you can perform a quick name search with [Command + F] or [Ctrl + F].

TAB NO. 2

THE SORTED GOFUNDME TAB

Looking to donate to those who have received the least funding? Learn more about the second tab of the Help Maui Rise Google sheet, our Sorted GoFundMe tab.

Just one week after the fires, the Help Maui Rise Google sheet included over 900 displaced families and our initial Instagram post on August 10th had reached over 117,000 accounts . It didn’t take long for a Lāhaināluna graduate who worked for Google to take notice. She reached out to us directly and offered us a direct contact to help us with formulas to better organize our list.

With their support, we were able to create our Sorted GoFundMe tab, which sorts fundraisers from lowest to highest funded, allowing donors to easily give to those who have less.

TAB NO. 3

THE VENMO & OTHER DONATION LINKS TAB

Looking to donate via Venmo or other donation platforms (i.e. PayPal, Cash App, Zelle or Spot Fund)? Learn more about the third tab of the Help Maui Rise Google sheet, our Venmo & Other Donation Links tab.

Although we encourage all ‘ohana on our list to create a GoFundMe so they can qualify for our grants, we understand that in these heavy times, families need space and time to grieve. For families that have yet to create GoFundMes, we’ve designed a specific tab to highlight their donation links.

Our Venmo & Other Donation Links tab is sorted alphabetically for easy navigation. Simply click on the donation link of the ‘ohana that resonates with you, and donate directly from there.
